FOODS MICROWAVED OR COOKED ON METAL OR PLASTIC PLATES CAUSES CANCER

Have you ever had moimoi served to you in plastic or aluminium containers in a fast food restaurant in Nigeria? Or do you cook your moimoi this way at home?
Our ancestors cooked beans pudding also known as moi moi in wrapped leaves. Leaves are organic, natural and harmless. They even give a nice flavour to the beans pudding when cooked.
But today…perhaps for convenience, moimoi are prepared in plastic containers and people still gobble it up, oblivious of the inherent dangers of this modern practice.
Plastics are hydrocarbon. To explain what this means to the lay man, plastics are gotten from crude-oil; just like your petrol, diesel and engine oil. Crude oil is not for human consumption. It is dangerous to the human internal organs. If consumed over a period of time by a human being, plastics would lead to cancer. When soaked in heat with liquid over a period of time, even, five minutes, chemicals from the plastics dissolve into the ground beans and become part of the food. It is the same effect with cooking moi moi in metal containers and plastic bags. Chemicals from the metal container or plastic bags get into the food.
Even the same with buying Akara or fried yam or fried plantain or roasted corn in old newspapers; you will simply be consuming chemicals used to print on the paper which will then dissolve into the hot food. The chemicals when consumed by human beings lead to cancer and other diseases.
Microwaving plastic containers and wraps releases harmful, cancer-causing substances into food.
Fact: Microwave-safe plastic containers and wraps are safe to use in the microwave.
But plastic containers not intended for use in the microwave could melt and potentially leak chemicals into your food. So avoid microwaving containers that were never intended for the microwave, such as margarine tubs, takeout containers or whipped topping bowls.
